Following many family holidays along the South Coast, our family fell in love with Mallacoota’s untouched beaches, wildlife, and its quiet village atmosphere. After years spent watching and waiting for just the right house, we purchased our much-loved Karbeethong Beach House in 2016 – a home that would bring our family together to share quality time in this magical environment far away from the stresses of modern life.
Carefully built by a husband for his wife in the 1960s, the house had been extended and partially renovated by its subsequent owners leaving it comfortable but in need of lots of love to restore and create a functional modern holiday home.
Despite all the hard work and the challenges created by its distant location, we fall more and more in love with this house every time we enjoy it. It continues to be a work in progress with ideas and plans for future updates very often the topic of conversation over a glass of wine on the front deck or by the fire on a cold winter’s night. We have created and shared many wonderful moments under its roof, and we hope you do the same.
Some of the works undertaken by us include:
- Two brand new contemporary bathrooms and laundry
- Replaced plaster and fully painted throughout
- Restored original hardwood floors, new Blackbutt floors at the rear
- Renovated the original front deck, replacing its decking, new roof
- Renovated the rear deck, added storage and new shade sail
- Brand new family sized hot water service
- 4 new reverse cycle heating/cooling units
- New wood heater, new blinds throughout
- Upgraded the kitchen pantry with full renovation planned in 2025
- Brand new rear perimeter fence to protect wildlife and secure pets
- New garden lighting, new hoses and new trees and plantings
- New shed (destroyed 2019-20 bushfires), extensive earthworks
