Mallacoota is a small tourist town, situated in far east Victoria approximately 5 hours drive east of Melbourne. Mallacoota has a beautiful Lake system adjacent to a superb beach suitable for swimming, surfing and fishing.
Accessible with 2WD vehicles, all a short journey from Mallacoota.
Genoa Peak is accessed via the Princes Highway. It’s suitable all year round for a light bushwalk and a little climbing. It’s a great half day outing from Mallacoota.
The full walk is graded as a medium walk, 3km long up to the summit. The last 400m to the top is a steep climb, but the 360 degree views of the Mallacoota Inlet, ocean and mountains is well worth it.
Approximately 2km further down the Princes Hwy are the Genoa Falls. There is a parking area with an easy path leading to the scenic Genoa Falls.
Wide open sloping basalt rocks with small 1 to 2 metre streams cascading into little streams are a delight for the entire family.
The Mallacoota Lookout rises over 300m above sea level, giving breathtaking views of Croajingolong and Mallacoota Inlet.
The Lookout is nestled with the Maxwells Rainforest Walk.

A large grassy park with lots of playground equipment and barbeques. Just off the main street makes it easily accessible.
Swings, slides and climbing frames will keep the kids busy.
The Mallacoota Mini Golf is an 18 hold themed mini-golf course. Extended opening hours over the summer. Located in Maurice Avenue.
Adjacent to the Lions Playground is the Mallacoota Skatepark. The park is a small steel street course, with the usual banks, quarterpipe, box and rails for all sorts of tricks.
Toilet facilities, water taps and barbeques are closeby.
Just 1 minutes walk from the main wharf, are Mallacoota Hireboats. You can hire their Pedal Boats and cruise along Coull’s Inlet and explore the sheltered waters of Mallacoota Lake.

Abalone Diving
Mallacoota has a rich Abalone Diving history with large commercial divers working round the clock.
Recreational divers can harvest 5 Abalone per day and 40 Sea Urchins.
Recreational Diving
Stunning snorkelling and diving opportunities abound with three major marine parks just off the coast. Cape Howe, Point Hicks and Beware Reef Sanctuary.
Mallacoota Inlet
Great snorkelling places in the Inlet as well as Harrison’s Chanel on high tide.
Gabo Island
Offering many snorkelling and diving spots. Santa Barbara Bay is a great shallow spot to start, ideal for kids and beginners.
Here you’ll see Morwong, Parrot Fish, Sea Sweep, Sea Urchins, Crayfish and Abalone.
Mallacoota is a fisherman’s paradise. Full stop.
You can throw a line in from the beach, the lake, a wharf or a boat. You’ll be fishing for salmon, flathead, bream and many other varieities.
Boatramps
Currently there are 6 boatramps in Mallacoota. The bottom lake has two, there’s one at the Main Wharf and another at Karbeethong Jetty.
For river access there’s a ramp at Gipsy Point and Bastion Point gives you direct access to the Ocean.
Mallacoota Inlet
Here is where you gain access to the large lake system and rivers feeding into it. There is the Top Lake and Bottom Lake, both brimming with all types of species of fish.
The space between the two Lakes is referred to as The Narrows. A great fishing spot for the flatheads and mulloways.
Offshore Fishing
Bastion Point is the boatramp that gives access to the ocean. You can take your own boat or hire a fishing charter.
